Unhappy Preloaded Vista

I have a PC that came loaded with Vista home premium. (HP m8070a)
The mobo is toast. Is it worth replacing the board, will everything work? If I can't get the exact board can I get a different one and it will work?

Welcome to the site.

You are going to run into some issues with regard to drivers if you replace the board with a different model, as a fresh install is always recommended when changing a motherboard. Whether you can boot as far as Windows to actually login and change the drivers will only become obvious in practice.

Do you have a manufacturers recovery partition on the PC?
