HI
I have a laptop with Vista and an Omega hard drive connected to a wireless router. Following a period when I couldn't connect to the hard drive I decided it would be sensible to back up to DVD.
To do this I opened up the hard drive using windows explorer and selected the first 5 folders to make up about 3.5gig to burn to a DVD. I noticed at the top of the explorer window in Vista there is a burn option. I used this and selected my D: drive with the newly inserted DVD. I set the process off and not much happened but after about 30 seconds a message popped up saying that it would take 10 days and 3 hours. I thought this was a tad too long, so cancelled. Now my photo's are not on the remote hard drive or my DVD (although it copied the folder names across just not the photos in the folders).
I think it was too short a timescale to delete all 3.5gig of photos, so I am hoping they are still on the remote hard drive, but I haven't a clue how to recover them.
So if you have any ideas, I would be very grateful for your help.
Thank you for your time.
David

Hello and Welcome dbhughes! PCHF is a great site with very knowledgable and helpful members & staff. Someone here will have the answer for you!
You can try running a scan with recuva. But you may need to use more powerful software to recover them such as R-Studios Recovery Software. Please see links below. Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - Home Disk Recovery Software and Hard Drive Recovery tool for Windows The more you use the remote hard disk, install software to it, etc the less chance you will have of recovering your files. So try to avoid using it until you can attempt recovery. EDIT: Thread RELOCATED with redirect for Member to General Software area of forum

Hi or you could also try a system restore to see if it is a setting that has changed restore to before you had the issue.

Hello DBHughes!
Do you still require assistance with your issue or have you found resolution? An update would be appreciated.
