Hi There. I struggled the past couple of days with the following problem. I have set up a database in access, to store the GI values and food breakdown of basic foods. I want to work out the GL value of the food... fairly simple in Excel etc. to do. The basic formula is: GI value / 100 x the Carbs (whether per portion/100g etc) So now in my GL colom, I tried building the expression: GL: [GI] / 100 * [Carbs] (Obviously thinking that Access will take the info i placed in the GI colom, devide it into 100 and muiltiplying it with the number entered under carbs) But i haven't gotten any success with in, it keeps on saying: "The expression you entered contains invalid syntax" and underneath "You may have entered an operand without an operator". Just some other notes: I have made the data types "Number" fields under Data Type. There is already values in, in my table, under "GI" and under "Carbs", so I don't understand why it cannot use the info entered and work out the expressions. Sigh.

Set up a table called GI with fields GI & CARB.
In a query built the following expression: [gi]![GI] *100/ [gi]![CARB] Everything works!
