Default Problems with video

Hey guys, my first post!!

Basically im having problems with viewing any kind of video on my computer. Whether thats using wmp, vlc or even in games and applications. There appear to be flashing blocks of fuzzy colours constantly appearing in parts of the video. I can get videos to play ok in windows media player by going to

options>performance>video acceleration>advanced> and ticking "use video mixing renderer"

however this obv doesnt fix the problem in other applications, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to solve the issue on a wider scale.

cheers, T

Hey T,

My welcome to PCHF as well. We have a super team of techs and a great, experienced and helpful user community here, and I feel certain that we will be able to help you.

What is your graphics card? Have you updated your drivers? Have you checked to make sure the card is seated properly? Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers?

Did this come on suddenly, or happen more and more over time?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

hey guys, sorry i havnt replied promptly, i unexpectedly got called away from home. These are my computer specs:

PC SPEC (specInfo)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU6300@ 1.86GHz
MB: Dell (0WG855)
RAM: 1021mb
HDD: 465gb (ST3500410AS)
GPU: Radeon X1300/X1550 Series Secondary
Sound: SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
OS: Microsoft Windows XP (2600) (Windows XP Media Edition)
Scr:

I tried updating all my drivers, and I did try reinstalling the ATI drivers for the GPU, including catalyst control i think? Anyway, problem is still there. I will now check to see if the card is seated properly. The problem did come on suddenly, but it was a while ago now so i cant remember anything in particular that could have triggered it.

Cheers, C

Hey C,

No worries M8, things come up.

If reseating the card doesn't resolve this, do you have another vid card that you could test with?

Looking forward to your reply,
