Default QT Pro - prob adding mov to mov...

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum - looking for help with QT Pro on pc.

My prob is that I have 2 seperate .mov files and would like them both to play in sequence on the same timeline - one before the other.

My original clip is an 8 min mov (with audio) I am trying to add 10 seconds of black screen to the beginning (and end) of it, for sync purposes.

My second .mov is simply the 10 seconds of black (I created this by resizing a black jpg and using 'add to selection & scale' to 10 secs audio track - I can mute)

When I do 'select all', 'copy' & 'paste' to add the black.mov to the beginning of the original (cursor at start) both mov's now start together at 00:00:00:00 (movie properties)

How come the original mov hasnt now shifted to start time of 00:00:10:00?

I'm guessing my settings are wrong somewhere... I'm quite new to QTPro but have searched high and low to solve this!

Any help much appreciated!

Further to last - I have solved issue by adding mov's to the end rather than beginning - ie... copy/paste original.mov to the end of the black.mov rather than vice versa.

I would now delete my post to save you reading it tho not sure how... maybe someone else can benefit from my thinking out loud!!

If anyone can still explain why I couldnt add mov to the beginning - I'm v interested to find out! I'm sure it does work both ways?

Alas no sleep lost - phew!

I think you need to setup playlists to do what you want to do.

Here's a quick how to do it here...

How do I create a Quicktime playlist?
