Most of the time when i wake my pc up or exit a game my icons are all messed up. Out of place but if i move my mouse over em then the icon that is supposed to be there shows up. Any ideas on this?
Heres a pic, you can see them messed up at the bottom. By Duke Nukem and Starcraft, and 'To Buy' is doubled.

Hey PO, Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful team of techs here, as well as a super and experienced user community. I feel certain that we can help you figure this out. First of all, did this just start out of the blue? Are they the wrong icons, or are they just not lining up correctly? Can you please post back with your OS? Looking forward to your reply, TTFN LGW

He posted a screenshot of his desktop.
From this screenshot it is relatively self-evident that he is running Windows Vista. Last edited by ladygreenwitch; 06-23-2009 at 10:25 PM. |

Hey Guys,@ Spike My personal welcome to PCHF, as I don't believe that I have had the pleasure. Thank you for your input. However, although a PC make "look" like it is running Vista, there are still those that are using the XP upgrade that made it look like Vista, without actually running Vista. When troubleshooting, especially in a forum environment, it is a serious mistake to assume anything. Always verify. I hope that when you are offering any assistance other users, you will keep that in mind. Looking forward to seeing you in the forums. TTFN LGW

Its not a big deal since it takes 2 mouse clicks to fix it, its just one of those things you have to figure out cuz its bugging ya. Thanks for the replies! |

Hey POD,No worries, just wanted to be sure before giving you advice. Need to make sure that we're talking apples and apples. LOL I believe that this may be a simple setting issue. Try right-clicking on your desktop and check to see that Auto Arrange is deselected. If it is, try right-clicking on the desktop again, only this time choose View, deselect Show Desktop Icons, and then close, restart the PC, and repeat to resealect Show Desktop Icons. Looking forward to your reply, TTFN LGW

Whoa i got a Bsod...
I unchecked Auto Arrange and then unchecked show desktop icons and restarted and Bam a Blue Screen. Its fine now but freaked me out for a sec. So i clicked back to show icons but left Auto unchecked. Did i do that right? Only other thing ive done is install the drivers for my Logitech 510. Im decent with PC's so im not too concerned but it just caught me off-guard. Ill play some games and maybe let my PC fall asleep and see what happens. Thanks for the help! EDIT: And if that doesnt work maybe ill try doing EXACTLY what you said like i should have done. I read it wrong.EDIT2: I have a second question. Ill go ahead and ask it since ill forget it in an hour :/ My clock keeps going back 3 hours, usually after i wake my pc up or start it up. Not much more i can say really. Need anymore info just ask.
