OK, I've deleted the AppData folders, run CCleaner, and installed the latest version of Flash Player. Unfortunately, this hasn't solved the problem.

I'm so sorry I couldn't get this up earlier - I haven't had internet access for the past couple of days.
It turns out that there are other applications with sound problems, as well. Though I can view video through Windows Media Player, for some reason DVDs are muted. I tested this on Windows Media Centre, which went as far as to say that it was not detecting an audio device. This is odd, because when I view connected hardware it does detect my speakers, and they do produce sound. |

Just a bit of an update - I added that file to the registry, but the problem does persist.
Additionally, I uninstalled the drivers for the speakers and had the computer automatically reinstall them after a restart and I've tried to update the drivers, but neither had any effect. |
