Default Problem with .mov file...**HELP**!!!

Hey guys.

I made a stop-motion animation on my friend's macbook using FrameThief and exported it as a .mov quicktime file.

I then threw it onto a flash drive and put it onto my pc.

But now that it's on my pc, the file has problems. It won't play in quicktime nor will it play in VLC media player.

My biggest problem, however, is that I need to compress the movie. How do I convert it to a file type that is supported by Adobe After Effects? AE can't import .mov files apparently...

This is for my final which is due tomorrow morning so I need immediate help with this so that I can turn it in.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Sean,

Welcome to PCHF. Nothing like waiting until the last minute huh, .

I'm sure that with the staff and members we have here that we should be able to help you get this resolved. I'm not positive about your time line however. But we will do our best.

First of all is the original still on your friend's laptop? Can you get to your friend if you have to?

Are you using a MAC or Windows based PC?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hey Sean,

Welcome to PCHF. Is the version of AE you are using Adobe After Effects 7.x?

Hey guys thanks for getting here to help.

The file is on my friend's computer as well, and does work using quicktime on his computer. I'll have access to it all night, or should.

I'm using a Windows based PC, xp not vista. And yes, I'm using AE CS3.

My friend doesn't have any versions of AE on his mac, which is why I had to transfer it to my PC.

I look forward to your replies, thanks!

Hey Sean, this is going to take a long time doing it this way. Althoug this is highly unusual, if you could please get a Skype account, we can all three work on this in real time; and then put the chat session back into this thread as referrence to others who may come across this problem.

Skype is free, and the chat is quick.

Please PM me back with your Skype account name, so that it is not posted in the open forum.

Yup, I sure did LGW. Worked fine in quicktime on his computer.

I'm more worried about being able to compress the mov file than I am viewing it. As it is now, the file's too big for me to upload to my professor's website.
