Hey Hechen,

My personal welcome to PCHF. Thanks for that, we can always use another pair of hands to help out around here.

Have you by any chance had success in transferring .mov files from MAC to Windows.

It may very well be a codec issue, and I hope that Sean will be back soon to check that out.

In the mean time, to everyone else reading this, if you have the ability to test Hechen's suggestion, please let us know the results.

Looking forward to your replies,

TTFN

I have used Quicktime Alternative, all it is a smaller alternative to Apple's Quicktime which the OP already has installed. I use it with Media Player Classic.

I have have received .mov files that have been encoded on a Mac and play OK on my Window's boxes.

I cannot offer a explanation for the OP's problem either, other than the file is corrupted somehow.

Sorry I cannot be of more help here LGW...

Every little bit helps my Big Bear Buddy.

I would love for Sean to come back and try some of these ideas with the files that we know didn't work, to see if they will.

@Arctos, from Media Player Classic, can you change the file type?

Looking forward to your reply,

In Media Player Classic (once QTA is installed) it will then play .mov files. It will not change the .mov to a .avi extension for example ( I think that's what you mean) and play.

I hope Sean can get a another copy of the file from his friends Mac to try...

Did this ever get resolved? I realise the thread is some months old now.

I must admit that I've never used QuickTime as anything other than a Player, for HDV Capturing & Video Editing I started off using iMovie, but then quickly bought Final Cut Express.

I've never had a problem playing exported .mov files from my Mac on my PC, but rather than going through a long-winded process of installing new codecs into an existing Player, why not just download and use VLC on the PC in the first instance?

VLC usually has a better chance of playing movies with different codecs.

Get it here;
