So I know theres a bunch of other options for media players out there, and I even use VLC media player now because of my problem, but I would really like to solve this.
Whenever I watch and .avi (XviD) file in Windows Media Player it will start fine and everything will work, but anywhere from 5-10 minutes into the video the sound will cut off. The video will work in VLC fine, but WMP it wont.
Ive updated my Divx codec and XviD codecs, but still nothing. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hello Jgarcia408! Welcome back tom PCHF! I'm sure one of our many talented technicians or members or our ever growing community will be able to help you out.
Could you please click the following link for a codec package installation and then post back with any results please? I will mark this thread as open to encourage others to look. Thank you for your patience Smokeycheech ![]() http://cccp-project.net/

Hi
Try reducing the video acceleration in Windows Media Player: In Media Player if you go to tools > options and then click on the performance tab. On the performance page there will be a slider labelled video acceleration. Reduce the acceleration to none, click ok and then close down media player. Then test...

I did what smokeycheech recommended and that seems to have corrected the problem. I ran a video and let it play for a while and the audio never cut out. I ran another that I have not been able to play in WMP because the audio would stop and same thing, it played fine. Thanks for the recommendation.
