hi guys thanks for your input what i have decided to do is run the trail version of BitDefender Total Security 2009 for about a week, do a deep scan with it and if it finds anything delete all the bad stuff. then i am going to download the programs i did have on my system, spybot ect run the full scans and if they come up with anything BitDefender Total Security 2009 is not doing it's job what do you think.

sounds like a plan, unless there is no spyware/viruses on your comp...then neither would find anything

Either way I think you would find cookies or tracking cookies. They are always found while surfing the internet.

Nigel it depends which free antivirus you use,yes some free ones are just as good if not better than the paid ones.

Just to finish it off:

AVG 8.5, Spybot, Malwarebytes, Comodo.

All free, all excellent.

Avira is all you will need. I put it on two computers. On computer one it found two viruses. And on computer two it found 5 VIRUSES. That is extremely good. I have been using it for a while now. It is all you will need.
