Question: AdAwatch initial screen has annoying info

hi all, i have a friend who religously uses AdAware/AdWatch, he still uses a phone modem for his phone connection for his internet.

He bothers me occasionally with his "problems", the latest problem is the AdWatch window that pops up whenever he boots up his computer.

Basically how the **** does he (or rather me) get rid of it, i ran a registry cleaner and that didnt get rid of it, he doesnt seem to have anything in his Start Up (msconfig) list that he shouldnt have either.

any ideas please ?

Uninstall AdaWare.

If you feel it's appropiate re-install (not a big fan myself)

hi buddy, thanks for that advice, i just hope i can convince of that, i use Spybot myself, i was hoping to get sufficient oomph to get him to use Spybot as well.

I am of course assuming that you recomend Spybot yourselves ?.

Ad-Aware is indeed a good protection software against Adware infections, and I DON'T recommend uninstalling it.

Does this happen with the free, or the paid version?

I believe it is the free version if that is any help, but i thought that you only get AdWatch in the paid version !.

If this is a paid version he has, it came from "guess who"? and he never paid for it, LOL.

so you dont recomend the free Spybot S&D?.

(i can see now that this post is in the wrong place!)

Yeah, it should be the paid version. I don't have any experience using it but, there should be a setting somewhere to disable it from popping up if you don't want it.

Also, I DO recommend Spybot S&D, very much so actually. It protects you against spyware. Along with Ad-aware and an anti-virus program this will effectively protect you from most everything out there. But, that's another topic for another day.
