Well, the problem I have with my notebook is that I just downloaded Skype and I bought a subscription to call landlines from my laptop, but the audio is so bad, even with skype to skype calls, that I can't even understand a word; is the same with the other person. I contacted Skype and did all they told me, to download the latest drivers, etc., but stays the same, I don't know what's the problem... when I watch dvd there is no problem with the sound...

Isorene,
This does not look like a malware issue. I will transfer this thread over to another forum for evaluation

Hi Isorene,
Can you please provide a little more information. What do you mean by really bad really bad sound in skype? Do you mean on your end or the person you are talking to? What make and model sound card or onboard sound do you have. To check this Click Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. Select the Voice tab. The default device will be listed there. Please post back what is listed under playback and recording. Also can you click the arrow in default device and if there is anything else listed please let us know what that is too. |

I can listen lots of noise in the background, there are cuts in voice, a lot of them and the voice is distorted, I cant understand a word, and it is both ways, calling from my skype on my laptop to a landline in another country, but also with skype to skype calls.
I tried to get the soundcard name following your instructions, and then I got a message as follows: Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems: Speakers (2- conexant high definition Smartaudio 221) Would you like to disable audio enhancements for this device? and I don't know if I should answer yes or no...thanks for taking the time to help me... |

Could be the 'net. I installed Skype on Linux and I didn't even get sound, I had to go through the settings and choose different audio output/input devices (not sure if skype for windows is the same).
Since you said you have a hard time hearing the person, and the person has a hard time hearing you I would say internet. When I made Skype calls from my cellphone with terrible wifi reception it was pretty bad. (now with 3G I dont need wifi )If its not the internet I'd say its the sound settings in Skype (assuming the Windows version has them) |
