I have internet explorer 7, vista home. IE keeps "Not Responding" ,, this can happen as soon as I bring it up, a few minutes to a few hours or even go all evening with no problem. I us CCleaner, dump all cookies, temp files and history each time I shut down. I also run Spybot-Search Destroy, Reg. Mecahnic on a regular basis as well as Disk Cleanup and defrag once a week and nothing seems to work.
I just read in another thread that suggested to remove and re-install IE,,,, it was not too clear to me how to do that as there were other things mentioned about add ons or something. Since I am not that litterate of the computer game possibly someone can give me step by step instructions.
I have Mozilla Fire Fox so would have another browser to use to re-install the Internet Exlorer,, also would it be better to install the newer version Internet Explorer 8 or stay with 7???
Thanks, Rich

Hi Rich,
It's possible that something is conflicting with IE7 on certain websites that may be causing your problem. Unfortunately there is no simple way to uninstall IE7. You can trick the pc into thinking it's not installed to reinstall it but even that doesn't always work. I'd try upgrading to IE8 first as this will hopefully overwrite and files that have problems and fix your problem. Please post back if this doesn't work. |

Thanks,,I downloaded IE8 right over IE7 and so far so good. I would like to leave this open for a couple days just to make sure that it is alright as I have only been back on here for about 3 hours and I would like to give it a couple more days just to make sure all is good.
Thanks again my friend,, Rich |

Also I do not know what you mean by optimizing the Browser and prefetch files. Then you said to un-install (IE7??) and then install IE8?? I went to control panel, programs and I do not see anything in there that say's internet explorer , 7 or 8. so I don't know where to go to un-install IE7. I don't remember now where I went to but it said I needed to be an Administrator! I am the only one that uses this computer so how come I don't have Administrator rights? Thank you so much for your help, Rich |

I'd strongly suggest ignore IE and just use FireFox.
