So i have downloaded Directx and am trying to install it for a game thats not working but when i try to install it, it gets half way done and then gives me this error:

"An internal system error occurred.
Please refer to DXError.log and Directx.log in your Windows folder to detirmine the problem"

What do i do to get past this?

Not knowing what OS you are running, I still recommend taking out all previous versions of DirectX..including the download you just did. Once that is done, after a full shutdown and start, download a new copy of the DirectX... which version you choose will depend upon your OS and what your system can handle.

Are you running windows xp, and trying to install DirectX 10? That would probably cause this error, as DirectX 10 is for windows vista, and Windows 7 only. If not, try installing directx from the game disk itself. Somewhere on the disk, there should be a directx folder, and a .exe setup file. double click on that, and it should install it for you.

Start > control panel > administrative tools > double click on the services > right click on the cryptographic services, then click properties > click on automatic for start up type > click on start ................
