Default Data Protection Manager Error

Our blade server crapped out a couple days ago, all servers shutdown unexpectedly. We got the thing replace and booted the servers fine. Ever since though, data protection manager is failing on exchange storage group backups. It saying "replica is inconsistent", and I've tried running a synchronization job with consistency check but it's not working which was the only suggested solution. I've looked all over but don't know what else to try. The dpm service is running on exchange server.

Here is the error in more detail from dpm

Affected area: First Storage Group
Occurred since: 2/18/2009 10:33:40 AM
Description: The replica of Storage group First Storage Group on vexs1.vlct.org is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent (ID 3106)
The protection agent on vexs1.vlct.org was temporarily unable to respond because it was in an unexpected state. (ID 60 Details: Internal error code: 0x809909B0)
Recommended action: Retry the operation.
Synchronize with consistency check.
Run a synchronization job with consistency check...

The DPM service keeps unexpectedly stopping on our exchange server. We've also updated DPM with kb954641 which mentioned our problem. This did not fix the problem either though.

Hi Doogle,

I'm very sorry for the delay on this thread. However, this error normally occurs if your backing up the System State data and the Exchange database at the same time. It's also good practice to have the Exchange database on a separate drive.

There are two options as far as I can see. Either to move the Exchange data to another drive (Move Exchange Stores to a Different Disk), or perform individual backup operations. This means perform the System State Backup and Exchange database backup separately.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
