Exclamation WLM doesn't remember my ID & password.

I have a problem with Windows Live Messenger.
I tick "remember my username and password" in windows live messenger 8.1.178.000. but as soon as I reboot my computer I found that all the boxes are not ticked. I thought it was due to a virus or so; therefore, I ran MSNFix which indicated the presence of infection, then I cleaned it. I ran Hijackthis, Combofix, Anti-Malewarebytes to make sure and found nothing.
I uninstalled Window live messenger from add/delete programmes and removed manually its folder from C:\program files, and its keys from registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall). then reinstalled and no results.
I even tried a newer version 8.5, but in vain.
I also ran system restore and it worked, however after rebooting twice the problem was back.
could you please help fix this problem?
by the way, I'm now using version 8.5

Hello NourinE.

Hope this might be of use.... Make Firefox Remember Passwords of Hotmail, Live, MSN & Yahoo Sites | dotNETwizard.NET

I know from a previous thread that you had issues with IE and I can't help but suspect that this is somehow related.

Sometimes the cures found for one item are similar for another so though I know you use IE I thought I'd offer this too...

These problems re logging in and remembering settings are probably due to the file that stores cookies being corrupt. To test this close Firefox, go to your profile folder and rename cookies.sqlite to cookies.tmp
Restart Firefox, log into those sites and then see if it remembers the logins and preferences.
If that does not work, make sure that cookies are being accepted and not being deleted when Firefox closes. Go to Tools > Options > Privacy, on that dialog you can make sure that cookies are being accepted, then in the private data section make sure that Firefox is not set to delete cookies when Firefox closes. Also click on the Exceptions button in the cookies section to make sure cookies from those sites are not being blocked. Next check any internet security software to make sure it is not blocking or deleting cookies. Some internet security software has privacy options that can block or delete cookies.

I know it's just that sometimes the cause behind the problem is similar.

For example if security settings in FireFox are too restrictive you could have issues with accessing sites and the same applies to IE.

Settings that you have chosen in IE might be affecting WLM.

IE and MSN which is basically the same thing as Windows Live Messenger are embedded in the operating system.

There's a tool for ensuring complete removal prior to installing a new version here that may be worth a try.

I tried this, but it doesn't work, by the way I didn't find any file with the name of "cookies.tmp"
