hi guys i am asking help for my neighbour,she has just purchased a usb turntable to connect to her pc to record her collection of LP records,over the years some have scratches on them,she is wondering if there is some program she can use that will eliminate the crackle noises from the scratches to make them sound better on disk,i have no idea how to help her,i hope someone can lend a hand,much appreciated,thank you ...

Audacity is the one of the best freware audio recording apps. at the moment. I think it has plugins that help to remove clicks and pops from vinyl.

You would have to play around a lot with Audacity's plugin settings. I could not find the plugin page link yesterday but there are some different ones on there that may help her as well.

You cannot expect to get dvd quality recordings from vinyl. It will have all of the hiss of the stylus, and various other little bits of dust noise being picked up by it.

I have a SKY Five Live cassette tape that I re-recorded to a dvd and it has all of the noise of the original tape makes which I think adds to the dvd.

i understand that the quality won`t be the same,most of her records are the original rock & roll ones & bands of the eighties,a lot she sent to america for,& are impossible to get now,we both again thank you for your trouble,much appreciated ......
