I have a PC that keeps shutting down after about a minute of loading multiple different O/S. XP or Vista.
I have swapped memory.
Hard drive is new. IDE or PATA
swapped optical player.
BIOS:
SATA was on - disabled
NIC was disabled
Not sure what is going on.
I do not swap MOBO's or CPU. if I get to these two being bad, I change both.
Any thoughts?
TIA -

you may also want to check the temp of your CPU, could be overheating. What are your system specs? please include your power supply, as tomario said you could not be supplying enough power.
Here is a link for a good PC temp monitor SpeedFan - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com |

Hello Rock4King.
The previous posts make good points. First thing I always check when a machine shuts itself down is the CPU fan. Sometimes they are actually still turning but intermittently and/or way too slow causing heat buildup and a shutdown to protect the CPU from melting. If that seems fine and there are no signs of HSF retention mechanism issues (the method used to hold down the CPU heatsink be it clips, pegs, or screws) then trying to swap the PSU for a known good one would rule that out as a potential source of trouble. If that doesn't do it post back and we'll have to explore other avenues.
