I have never used any of the TWEAK progams, so not sure how it is supposed to work. I used TWEAKVI to move Vista cookie and history folders to another drive. When I look at these folders through TWEAK, it shows the new root directory. If I look at the folders through Computer, it shows that they are still in C: drive. Are the files not actually moved using TWEAK?

As I have said in your other thread here, I have never used it.
However looking at TweakUI for Win XP at the same move special folders section, it states: Changing the location of the Special Folders will not move the files to the new location. To change the location of the Special Folders and simultaneously move the files, right drag the folder to it's new location and select "Move Here" rather than using this dialog. So I would assume that the same principle will apply with TweakVI...

I downloaded the program, but not sure that it worked for me. Since I am not familiar with Tweak, I am not sure if it is me or simply that Vista will not allow these files to be moved in the same ways as we could on XP. This version does not have the note that you referenced above. The window shows the folder names and paths. I highlighted the one that I wanted, clicked the Change button and selected the new path, and clicked the Save button. It worked on some, but not on most. There is not a "Move Here" button on the software (or under Properties for the User files as there is with Documents, My Music, My Pictures, and I cannot drag the folder from one drive to the other. I get an Access Denied message, which seems to be a pretty common response on Vista. I have permissions, so I guess this is just Vista not allowing these files to be moved. I have spent several days searching the net and all of information that I have found involves moving these system files the hard way - through Registry keys. This OS is a little more difficult to manipulate than XP. Thanks for the response. |

Hello there.
Could you let me know if this is fixed/answered/resolved please. Or do you still require help? Thankyou. JB.
