I can't seem to download any windows live messengers from any website. None of the links ever go through, its always page error. I have one windows live download file on my computer but when I download that it comes up with fatal error.
It would seem to me something on my computer is blocking it?
If anyone knows any idea what's wrong tell me please!

Hey Katrina, welcome to PCHF.
Please can you give me the full details of the error message you receive, including any error code. Also, what software are you using to download (such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla). At what point do you receive these error messages, when you click on Run, or when you click on the link? Finally, do you have this problem if you download any other free software? |

Hey, thanks for replying.
Its 'There was a problem with the installation. Windows Live was not installed. error code: 0x80070643' I'm using Google Chrome at the moment, but its the same happening with Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. I receive the error messages as soon as I click the link and no, I've never had a problem with anything before. |

Hey Katrina, thanks for that, see if the following fix works for you.
- Make sure that any previous versions of MSN has been uninstalled from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Messenger does not work with previous installations). - Make sure that any 3rd party Anti-Virus and Firewall is disabled for the installation. This normally means right clicking on the icon in the system tray, followed by Disable. - Go to Start, Run, and type in cmd. - From the command window, type in the following commands: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 wups.dll - Restart your PC. - Download and install this version (8.5): http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/...-187295-1.html |

A variation on Madmonkeys post, try this way.
Copy the following to Notepad: regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll regsvr32 /s wups2.dll regsvr32 /s wups.dll regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll Then save it as wu_fix.bat then right mouse click on the file, and run the .bat file and reboot. Here's another trusted website to get Messenger from: |MG| Windows Live Messenger 8.5
