I'm using Internet Explorer version 7.0.6001.18000 on Vista Home Premium.
I went to my son's DJ website that I built for him, Portal clicked on Enter and it went to the home page. Explorer then reported:
"An old version of the Flash plugin was detected. Please upgrade your Flash plugin." The last sentence, "Please ....plugin." is a direct link to the Adobe site at: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash
So I clicked on that today, accepted conditions, etc. and in due course got the message: "Installation complete. Version 10.0.12.36 installed successfully."
Next I shutdown the computer completely, (ie. not just a Reset), waited 60 seconds, power on again, went back to Portal , clicked on Enter, got to the home page, whereupon Explorer said: "An old version ..." , well you get the idea! This is the same as what happened yesterday, (computer has been totally powered off overnight, not just on standby).
Next I tried Tools-Browsing History-Delete all-Yes, waited for it to finish. Then Shutdown, power off, wait, power on again, back to same site, and ... "An old ......" yeah, yeah! You lie, Explorer!!!
Next, does Firefox have same problem with same site? So, load up Firefox version 2.0.0.17 and go to Home Nope, Firefox is fine with this page and the flash at the top of the page works properly.
Help!
PS. Yes I know Firefox is now at version 3. Downloaded it on two separate occasions, about a week apart, deleted the first copy before installing the second one. Both kept crashing frequently, saying "Problem, must exit" or something like that, so gave up and went back to version 2 which is completely stable, no crashes or problems at all. Any ideas on this as well, please?

You have to uninstall the older versions first, go here for the tool and have a bit of a read on the removal procedure...
How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control Edit: To completly remove Firefox 3.0x, uninstall as per the usual Add / Remove software in Control Panem. Then go here and remove your profile as you may have a corrupt file in it. C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Hi Arctos, thanks very much for your help. Just read it, so haven't done it yet, but will zoom off and give it a go now. Thanks again, Alex. on Vista.
