Default Recovering private files after a CPU failure

My desktop PC died of a CPU failure recently. It ran under Windows XP. Given the evolution of hardware, I decided to buy a new one. It runs under the same Windows XP licence.

In an effort to recover my files from the previous PC, I have transfered the old drive to the new machine. It is installed as a second disk and runs perfectly.

I have been able to recover all the files (wife and kids) but I am having problems with mine. Two folders were protected from other users with administrator rights by the standard Windows functionality. I am unable to read them on the new machine.

Since I only have a partial backup, I would really like to be able to recover what is in those folders. Any word of advice?

Thanks in advance!
