I have downloaded a piece of software from a PC magazine.
The software is called "AdsCleaner"
When I boot up my machine it gives an error referring to a file called 'user32.dll'.
I cannot uninstall the program.
When I try to uninstall I get a message saying
'Cannot open file C:\PROGRAM FILES\ADSCLEANER TRIAL\uninstall.ini'
I have tried sending an email to the manufacturers, which got bounced back to me.
What do I do now?
EDITED to add : I am using Windows 98SE

I did a quick google search and this seems kinda promising.
"Try replacing user32.dll in your C:\Windows\System folder using System File Checker (Run:sfc) and your Win CD" |

To uninstall this utility, delete the executable file.
I think you should do the "Prework" link in red below on my signiture.

Unfortunately, I bought the PC second hand, and do not have the windows disc.
It gets worse. Upon rebooting, I get the following error : "the procedure entry point RealGetWindowClassA could not be located in the dynamic link library user32.dll" I have tried deleting the EXE files. The program STILL runs on startup. I have removed the program from the Windows startup folder. It still runs. I've removed it from MSCONFIG It still runs. ummmm......help. |

Always your choice but go for Jelly Bean's suggestion but also try downloading
CCleaner from CCleaner - Download which will work with 98SE. Then: CCleaner: Under the Cleaner section: select “Run Cleaner” Under the Registry section: select “Scan for Issues” (when asked about registry “Backup” save & then accept where it saves it to.) then “Fix Selected Issues” Do the Registry option again.. Report back |
