I installed a free trial of GhostSurf Platinum here:
Anti-Spyware and anonymous Internet surfing
Part of the process was to make sure the net could be accessed. I was able to open IE so it all seemed fine. I then finished the installation and followed the directions to reboot.
After rebooting, I couldnt access the net anymore so I did some trouble shooting from Tenebril's website. However, these are my issues and I have no way around them, since I can no longer access many programs and windows services, or even my c drive.
Unable to uninstall the program. I disabled it from my start-up menu and rebooted again, was able to use the uninstall provided with the program, but it froze and I got an error message it did not complete. However, now it no longer shows in my start menu, but an add-on compoment that came with the software, Ad-Aware, is still installed and will not uninstall.
Also, my normal add/install programs window shows NO programs at all, so I cant uninstall it that way. And since I cant access my C drive (the window just hangs) I cant access where they were installed to disable them that way.
My task manager is no longer functioning as normal, and will not let me shut down ad-aware.
My regular security software will no longer open so I can disable this program either.
I can't reinstall the program and start over because I can't access the net.
Normal shutdown and restart does not work, and I get a blank screen when I want to switch user accounts.
My control panel sometimes opens and sometimes doesn't.
*My Computer* window just hangs on the screen with the flashlight. I can't even access my external hard-drive to try and move some files I need this weekend.
In other words....FUBAR! I'm not a techie but I've always been able to troubleshoot issues like this in the past. Right now, I am totally stumped.
I'm writing this on laptop btw, this isn't my pc.
Can anyone help at all? Thanks in advance.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move this to the correct forum.
