Default bass guitar software

hi all
i'm wondering/trying to find if there's any software about that'll let me an ageing bass player, use songs in my pc's music library and cut out the bass in the track and let me play over it?
editing software i suppose but something simple to use.
the pc has now become the only way to play due to wife and kids, so have ordered a X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series with an input jack that'll fit the bass.
just want to brush up with some old songs i know and try a few new uns.
there must be a programme out there somewhere, just not sure the best phrases to google it.
any help gratefully received.

Wow I suppose i'm a little (Read: Lot) Late on this one.

If you are looking for an app that will quickly remove the bass parts from an original track then other than using a high pass filter (which will remove pretty well any sound under a certain frequency), there's not much I can shoot you offhand.

If you are looking for something that will help you learn bass parts, I would recommend using Guitar Pro ( I have version 5 and it's sweet). It's relatively inexpensive and there are many great tabs that incorporate, usually, all individual parts of a song that can be muted or solo'd.

I could look around if you're still looking.

Sorry, I really don't to get here often these days

Yeah, it's all in the EQ unfortunately. CD's, Wav's, Mp3's - don't store multiple individual tracks. They store a combined finished product of all the tracks put together and are essentially single track files, ok maybe 2 track since they're stereo, maybe.

So anyone who said graphic equalizer is right - regardless of whether you use a software graphic eq in your audio player or whether you run your computers audio out to a stereo and use hardware eq. Software eq is pretty good and can be more versatile.

I second the Guitar pro recommendation though I'm too cheap to buy it myself.
