Hi, does it matter when the real media converter is unable to convert from .rmvb to an avi, or mpeg vice versa in the absence of an appropriate media codec? I seemed to experience this pop-up message from my converter whenever i seemingly try to convert a .rmvb to avi stating: "system is unable to recongise the file, and is unable to convert", if there are more appropriate real media converters, please enlighten me. With regards to the former query posed, hope to hear from you soon thank you.

You most likely need to download a codec pack. Otherwise you could try another convertor - post back if installing codecs doesn't help.
