so my pc wont play dvds, ive no idea why, media center and media player dont work because apparently a compatible dvd decoder is not installed. the pc used to play dvds before i got it fixed cos of a system error ages ago, this is the first time ive tried since then and they dont work.
im using xp and i recently installed a gpu.
any help is great!

You probably just need a codec.

Please can you download K-Lite codec pack from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download_...hp?d=4523&s=95

During the wizard, you will be asked to select components. A range of components will already be selected. Scroll down a little way, and you'll see MPEG-2, DVD, select this option. Finish the installation and then reboot your PC. Finally, test a DVD, and see what happens.

I know its pretty common knowledge but do you have VLC installed?
This will play pretty much all formats including CD/DVD. I find Windows media can't deal with AVI visuals but as soon as i fire up VLC it ALWAYS works.

Just a thought.
