Default How can I "light" my pictures using pc software?

I know the title was kind of hard to read so bear with me. Let's say you had a picture where the left half was red and the right half was blue.

If you were to shine a white light on the picture, you would see it exactly as it is.

If you shined a blue light on it, only the blue side would be the same color, and the red side would become black, vice versa with a red light.

Now we've all used "hue" functions on photoshop, gimp, etc. but are there any programs that would mimic this external light effect? I've been meaning to look for one but simply don't know where to start.

Oh, and here's an example of the light effect I'm referring to:

Any and all help is much appreciated!

Well...!! We can't have that stuff on a family website
FadieZ-- this is a "G"-rated website...please keep it clean.

@ Zach --If I'm getting what he's saying-- it's almost like the blue-red overlay effect for early 3-D movies --you know the cheapo cardboard glasses...
Except this would cover 1/2 of an entire photo with a red tint-- and the other side with a blue one ? For what purpose?? NO idea.

Haha sorry JB, I just read your pm and had completely forgotten about the...er...adult content portrayed in that video. I just reviewed Part 1 of the video, and unfortunately it too contains some explicit material. If one were to search "alex grey led" on youtube in a crazy other dimension though, one might find the videos in question, although it would never work in this dimension. Unfortunate, since one would have to be in another dimension and watch the video to understand what I am talking about. Hint hint.
