Default Disable Utilman.exe

Hi

The friends at school thinks it is fun to "hack" others computer while they are not there. Recently people started using the Utilman.exe "hack".

So I wonder, is there anyway to disable the use of win+u or the utility manager on Vista?

This is apparently part of windows and can be stopped safetly. Were did you get the HACk idea from?

Executable : UtilMan.exe

UtilMan.exe Manufacturer :Microsoft

UtilMan.exe Status :

OKUtilMan.exe Description :

Windows 2000/XP/2003 Utility Manager application which can be started via "Start \ Programs \ Accessories \ Accessibility \ Utility Manager" or by Windows-Key+U. The Utility Manager allows the user to configure through the one window the following special Accessibility features : Magnifier, Narrator, and On-Screen Keyboard.UtilMan.exe Recommendation :

In Windows XP/2003 this task will only show if you have the Utility Manager open. In Windows 2000, on the other hand, the Utility Manager is, oddly, a service which shows as running when the Utility Manager is open, and as stopped when you have closed Utility Manager.

Unless you can give more of a clue on what this hack realy is?

Tell the teachers.

Or it is a few commands used Via win+u

I got it from a friend of mine, he found it on youtube or something.

You boot with a vista recovery cd or a linux livecd and make a copy fo cmd.exe in the System32 folder and change the name to Utilman.exe and then you can get a cmd window at the logonscreen. And you can figure the rest out.

So I need a way to disable the ability to start the Utility Manager on startup.

Yes I know the rest but you dont need the disk to do it.

Try a search on the pc for this util.

So you and a friend did this to school computers?

Or confess to the teacher what you did and take the punishment. Before this gets out of hand?

Have you checked add and remove?

Have a look in system32 folders.

I'm not doing it to anyone, just want to insure noone can do it on my comp.

Oh you want to stop others doing it to your computer? Now I understand.Well they are very wrong in what they are doing.

Because they have been doing it to school computers and other childrens computers?

If they can power on your computer then I am not sure if there is a way to stop them doing it?

I suppose any computer can be hacked.

Can you not speak to the teachers or your parents?
