Default Printer Drivers

Hi im having problems getting a driver for a hp 3600 inkjet printer. I went onto the HP site and download the drivers which were as an exe file. Once downloading I ran the file and it kinda just pops up and dissappears....but never runs through the setup. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Thanks
Phil

Sometimes the exe file just expands the files to a temporary folder so when Windows detects the printer it will find them and load them into the system32 folder. Making sure it's plugged in to your PC have you tried turning the printer on and going to Start>Control Panel>Add New Hardware and let windows search for the drivers after first clicking on the exe file?
Also, when you click it does a black window pop up for just a second then go away?

Hi thanks for responses.

Yeah I have full admin rights. I click the file and then a setup window pops up for about a second then just dissapears with nothing happening from then onwards. I have tried to add it using the add printer wizard but it never finds it automatically always asking to locate drivers.

The file you're trying to open is a compressed file which will extract the relevant files (including drivers) into a local folder. Did you look in the event viewer to see if there is a specific error relating to the excecution of that file?
