Default [Resolved] Firefox opens RAR archives?

When I download .rar files on some websites, they open up automatically and I don't have the .rar file on my desktop/save location. This gets quite annoying when I want the .rar file and I don't know how to stop them from opening right after I download.

I'm using version 2.0.0.14 on Windows 2000.

Hello Caxis,

In Firefox, click Tools, Options, applications tab, under the content column, check for RAR. Is it set to always ask, or does it have a program set to open them?

If it has a program chosen to open RAR files, select the RAR item in the content column, then click the drop down menu, in the action column and set it to Always Ask or Save File.

Hope that helps!

Although there was no Applications tab, I found what you were looking for under the Content tab.

That's good to hear. I just realized I'm using Firefox 3 beta so it might be a bit different.
