Default Adobe Premiere stops capturing

I'm trying to capture something in Premiere Pro CS3, but everytime I hit record, it'll capture anywhere from half a second to 5 seconds and then it just stops. I've checked every setting that may have had something to do with it, and it doesn't appear that I can change the capture duration or anything like that. I have plenty of hard drive space. Any suggestions?

Ah.. Interesting.. Have you tried from other capturing software to see if it's just an Adobe thing or a general problem?

Well, with the included software it will keep capturing, but with that program the video is extremely choppy and unusable. It's smooth in Premiere, but I just can't get it keep capturing.

Ok I think I figured it out. I looked around and saw one person who had the same problem and someone else suggested capturing onto a secondary drive. So I tried capturing onto my external hard drive and it worked. Only problem is that the audio goes crazy when capturing to my external. It worked fine on the main drive when it was working, so I'm thinking maybe it's just an issue with USB not being fast enough to properly capture HD video. So, do you think if I get a second internal SATA drive, my problem will be solved?
