Ok, I just tried standard res and it works perfectly. The USB has to be the problem then. Unfortunately my external is only USB, no firewire port on it, so another internal is really my only option. I'm just hoping that the problem was that capturing needed a dedicated drive and not that it only works properly with USB or something.

I think you're just seeing bandwidth issues, USB just can't transfer that fast, and even if it did, USB external drives are SLOW as heck, so it'd be bottlenecked there as well.

Ok I got another hard drive today and I've only done a few tests so far, but they all worked perfectly. So, that was indeed the problem. Thanks for the help man.
