I need to put together a software system for a translation project. A friend of mine is trying to put together a book in the Nanerige language, which requires unique characters not available in any commercial word processor. I think he wants it to be a virtual/interactive book where users could read it on a computer and click on specific pieces of text to listen to their pronunciation. This is important since vocal tone is so important in the translation. I was thinking maybe some sort of HTML system, but that would be difficult because the dialects he is working with use specific, unique characters. Unfortunately, the budget doesn't allow for expensive, customizable software at this point, so we have to find a way to do this with commercially available software. Any ideas?
