Default [Answered] Click & Drag down function in microsoft excel.

Hi, i am using microsoft office 2000 excel. I have recently seen a function which i am not familiar with, it is a click & drag down function similar to the one used in your webpage's 'Thread Subscription' - Notification Type option. May i know how do i create this function in excel?

You mean the combo box? You want to use the same box in Excel?

There are many variations of the combo box in Excel, but which one you use depends on what you intend to use it for?

I intend to store a few persons' names, and a list of companies. but i do not know how i create them. Are there any limits to the number of entries?

OK, no limits to the number of entries.

- First of all, list the names you want to add somewhere in your current workbook, possibly in another sheet if you want to keep the sheets seperate. (Just make sure you keep it to a single column)

- Click on the cell you want to put the combo/dropdown box into, and then go to Data, followed by Validation.

- From the "Allow" combo box, select List, and then click on the selector icon to the right of the "Source" text box. From here, you can select the items you have just listed.

- When finished, click the x, followed by OK and your ready to go!

Note that the combo box will only appear when you click on that particular cell.
