Hello all!

I'm not even sure where to begin with this question, so I guess I'll leap into it. For reasons unknown to me my Windows Installer gives me an error whenever I try and install anything that uses the Windows Installer. This is the error I get:

"Code 1601: The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel to verify that the Windows Installer service is properly registered."

I went into admin tools --> services and when I tried to enable Windows Installer I got the error:

"Error 1607: The process terminated unexpectedly."

I'm honestly not sure what I did to break it so horribly, nor am I sure what information you'd need to begin to fathom to help me. But! Any and all help is appreciated. Just let me know and I'll do whatever I can.

Hello kylock, Welcome to PCHF.

The Windows Installer Service needs to remain stopped in Services, and can not be run manually by starting it from Services. It is active during an install only.
