Media player is notorious for problems with certain codecs. You might try to reinstall a fresh copy. I recomend using WinAmp. It is free and far superior to MP in my opinion.

I can only imagine it to be some sort of bug with your video codec. I second the above post and install WinAmp or I also like VLC at videolan.org
