Unhappy RAR file problems

Having been a child of the winzip era, I found before the days of XP files such as RAR and ZIP were relatively easy to deal with. However with XP, an inbuilt form of winzip was used. Now I found it would work occasionally, but the problem was I wanted one with more versatility. I downloaded Extractnow, and found it to work reasonably, but recently doubted it's capabilites. The problem I have now is I've removed extractnow, and the automatic winzip that comes in XP is no longer there. Perhaps the file associations have been reassigned and not put back?

So basically I have one of two requests. 1, how do I reassign the inbuilt XP zip and rar file opening tool, or 2, what is a good reliable program to do such? Any help muchos appreciated.

Hi.

1) How to change which program starts when you double-click a file in Windows XP
2) WinRAR is an excellent tool

This is the problem, I know HOW to change it, but I don't know where to find the program which XP uses to open these files. It's no longer called Winzip, and I can't find where it lies in Windows. It's as good as invisible.
