I'm running the latest version of PowerDVD, 7.3, and every time I try to play a DVD or media file with it it says that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. I used to be able to use powerDVD perfectly fine a week ago...the only thing I've changed that could possibly have impacted it would be getting a new SATA 500 gb hard drive, but I did a fresh install of windows on it...anybody have any thoughts as to what the problem could be?

System specs:
Windows XP Home Edition w/ Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
Nvidia Geforce 7900GT graphics card
Creative X-Fi soundcard
2 gb Corsair PC3200 Ram
Maxtor 7200RPM 160gb hard drive
Maxtor SATA 500gb hard drive (this is the one Windows is installed on)

All my drivers are the latest versions downloaded straight from the websites and none are beta drivers. Everything else works perfectly fine on the PC.

When you run PowerDVD, and it gives you the error...Click on Send Report, click Close on the next box - a 3rd might pop up with a blue link in there...click on this if it does. It will be a possibly solution from Microsoft.

I tried that and nothing happened...no solutions poped up.

So I tried WinDVD and it seems to work fine...so I guess unless someone can give me a solution as to why PowerDVD isn't working I'll use WinDVD.

*EDIT* I take it back, whenever I right-click on WinDVD to get to the menu, it says pbViWind: An invalid argument was encountered - so I can't access the right click menu. Why can't I use any of these DVD players when not to long ago they worked perfectly fine?

It seems quite simple but what about a reinstall of PowerDVD? Did you try?
