Question Folder Recovery Needed

Hi all, I have a HUUUUGE problem. First of all, of course it is my work computer. Our company decided to save money and fire the LAN who actually knew how to fix things, and have a consultant come in 2 X a month. So we go around here like this. I was elected to fix computer problems and I need more than a little help. . Anyway, today my main folder that has about 30 sub folders vanished. When this happened 2 months ago, I was able to find it using the Microsoft file recovery and found that the system put it into one of the sub folders on the network. Today I cannot find it, what is worse is that it brought back an older version of this from May. I used the WIndows Systems Restore feature where you can put your computer back to an earlier point in time. I put it back to an earlier point in the day today. That did not help. I looked in the Microsoft search feature and only found the back ups of that folder that I made last May when this happened. What can I do now?

Hi and welcome to PCHF! Go ahead and try what MadGamer suggested. Also, you posted this in the wrong section of our site and you may want to take a look at this, it's not a problem as you are new here but for next time: http://www.pchelpforum.com/New_User_Posting_Guide.htm

I have moved it to the correct section and wish you the best of luck.

Thanks,
Adam

Thanks and sorry it was not in the right section. I lost more than 3 years worth of work on a Friday night, so you can imagine my distress. I did manage to find it using searches for one specific document I did only on that day, it couldn't distinguish between the other ones which are updated versions of reports and spreadsheets that I use each day; it did bring back some archived stuff which I don't understand but most of what I needed was the correct stuff.

Blame your boss for sacking the I.T guy. I bet he's regretting it now. You should be backingup do you have any backups to recover it from?
