Default OE6 and Power Point

XP SP2 - OE6

Installed Power Point Viewer.

Clicking on a Power Point attachment on an incoming email gives the message "....needs an association...."

However if I save the file to a folder then click on it - it opens no problem.

Folder options show all PPT, PPS etc associated with the viewer.

perplexed, so any thoughts....?

Try Right clicking on the file and use the Open With... option.
If the Viewer isn't initiately available, use the Browse option to point to the Viewer.

Good Luck...

It may have sometime to do with how the file was initially attached to the email. If it works, then just save it to your desktop to view it. If you don't want to keep it, delete it. If you do want to keep it, move it to your My Documents folder. Does that work for you?

JI know that saving and viewing works. Its just that the problem only occurs with PowerPoint. and it's annoying.

I don't know the limitations of the PowerPoint Viewer. Perhaps if you purchase the real deal, then what you want to do will actually work.

I have the real thing (Office 2000) which doesn't work which is why I downloaded the viewer which is obviously also the real thing.
It has to be a problem with OE & fair play I'm surprised nobody else has reported similiar.

Ah well..............
