Hi d3r3kgibb...i personally don't advise anyone touching the registry unless you know exactly what you're doing.

I've never read any book on it. Everything i know about the registry, i have done by trial and error - and more formats then i care to remember.

Amazon.co.uk: Mastering Windows XP Registry (Mastering): Books: Peter D. Hipson seems to have good review. You'll more than likely get as good if not better resources online although I agree with GaR though you can generally get away without going too much into the big black hole known as the windows registry.

If you're going to mess around I recommend setting up a Virtual Machine or atleast a second windows install for this purpose.
