I'm assuming XP?

You can either set the default media player in Control Panel > Add & Remove programs > Set program access and defaults OR if you wanna change only a certain filetype, right click on the file and click Open With > Choose program, then select what you wanna open with and check "Always use selected program to open this kind of file"
