When trying to use odd characters in a document, I've always gone to the Character Map to find them. Each time I do this, I think to myself that there must be an easier way. Is there?
Odd characters to me are for example, the symbols used for the different suits in a deck of playing cards (hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs). I know these characters are part of the Symbol font.
Is there an easier way to see all of the characters that are available on my system?
thanks......................matt

Howdy, BluesMatt. If I get what your asking (probly not though) you can create a shortcut to the CM. Or do you want to see everything like a bacth file for instance?

Hi Guys,
Matt, are you asking if there is a way to open all the fonts similtaniously so you can just browse through them all and look at all the different symbols? If so...not to my knowledge...unless you open a word document and write them all in there.

I was looking for an easy way to see all of the characters in each font on my system. I was also thinking that there should be an easy way to enter often used special characters. Maybe use a macro program? But is there a macro program that works well across different applications?
I also think I have way too many fonts installed. Many I'll never use. I was thinking about paring down to maybe 2 dozen fonts at most and them building and Excel sheet that shows each character in each of the 24 fonts. But if I cut and paste from this sheet into another document, will the right character be entered (does the font information as well as the character code come over to the new document?)? |
