@Timmy - The problem is more than likely caused by a communication issue between the scanner and the new HP Printer, in other words, they don't speak the same language. Both Epson and HP are extremely proprietary, I'm guessing that the software was designed
not to recognize other manufacterer's printers in that capacity.
If it is a really important feature to your friend, we can always contact Epson, and find out. Although they are not always particularly forthcoming with information regarding their products and other manufacterers.
