Default [Resolved] Scanner to Printer software doesnt work ......

Hi all a neighbour of mine had an Epson Printer and an Epson Scanner (124OU), the scanner came with some Epson Software , called Smart Panel with which he could easily send a "Scan" diretly to the Printer using this Software.

He then got a HP Photosmart 7760 Printer, using the same Smart Panel software now he finds his Epson Scanner cannot send directy to the printer, although the Software recognises the Printer OK, he can of course Save the Scan to a file and THEN send it to the Printer ???, but he wonders why the software doesnt work !?

Search in your software settings if you can select what printer to use or select your HP printer as beeing your default printer. You can set default printer this way: START - Settings - Printer and Faxes - Right click on your HP printer and select Set as Default Printer. This might work

Hey Guys,

@Timmy - The problem is more than likely caused by a communication issue between the scanner and the new HP Printer, in other words, they don't speak the same language. Both Epson and HP are extremely proprietary, I'm guessing that the software was designed not to recognize other manufacterer's printers in that capacity.

If it is a really important feature to your friend, we can always contact Epson, and find out. Although they are not always particularly forthcoming with information regarding their products and other manufacterers.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
