burning avi and mpegs to dvd

Hi all,
downloaded a few eps of heroes and other shows but trying to burn them to dvd is driving me nuts. i used nero 7 and that took and hour and a half to burn one ep and the sounds was out of sync in the end.
any ideas?

Well, downloading movies isn't legel, at least in most places anyway.
