Default [Resolved] Printing problem with new computer

I just bought a Dell Optiplex with Windows XP in it, and I have a HP Laserjet 1000 printer with a USB connection. My CD from HP has Windows XP drivers in it,but it won't load them in the computer. I get an error message saying the inf file is for Win,95 or Win.Me and can't load the proper driver. I did set the port with USB001,but no luck. Can anybody out there help?

Hi Fredw38,

Wewlcome to The PCHF.
I've come across this problem a couple of times before, you need to install the drivers etc first, before you plug the printer in, the software should ask you to plug it in at some stage and will detect it automatically.
Let us know how you get on

Thanks for the reply. I did try that, but it didn't work, it turned out to be the motherboard.
I have all usb connections, mouse, keyboard, printer. I uninstalled the usb root hubs and the motherboard was suppose to pick up the BIOS ,but it turned out it was dead in the water, and nothing worked. The company is sending me a new motherboard. Besides the printer I also had a flash drive that the computer would not pick up. I guess it was the motherboard.
Thanks again for responding
