Hi all, media player 11 wont play any mp4 files that i have. Where can i get a codec update pack? I've seen codec packs for earlier versions of media player that say they allow media player to play all files but wasnt sure if these would be ok with media player 11 on Vista?

AVC decoder will give you MP4 playback, you can install it by using K-lite codec pack. You'll have to manually select AVC decoder to install it though, as you'll be given a number of options to install numerous codecs. The default installation comes with numerous codecs, so you don't need to worry about that. Also, in media player classic, do the following:
Click view-->options--external filter-->add--->select AVC video decoder-->click ok--->set AVC decoder to prefer and then click ok to finish.

I tried installing the K-lite codec pack the other day and it threw up a few errors so i restored to an earlier point to get rid of it. I was thinking of getting VLC to avoid downloading codecs for WMP and didnt realise (untill i just visted that link) you could get different skins. Goes to download VLC.....

Hmmmm, dont think VLC is as good a music player. Unless i'm just not setting it right - for example I cant get it off the taskbar and just show in the system tray, or the minimise thing WMP does in the taskbar.
