Minimizing

No matter what program I'm running, when I try to minimize it the program closes out.
Nothing appears on the bottom task bar. I've tried clicking with the right mouse button on the _ minus square at the top of the right hand corner,but no menu appears.
I did a virus scan and nothing showed up. Any ideas?

When you minimise it Fred it should drop on the the task bar at the bottom.
Is this missing?

could also be that he does not have his toolbar visible at the bottom.....fred, is there a clock in the bottom right of the screen?

fred: I'm posting this so all can see it and help.....just an fyi, in the future, I only check the email I use for this site maybe once or twice a week, it's usually better to respond in the thread for immediate response, either from myself or anyone else who has an answer; that way you don't just bet on one pony, you can bet on the entire field. Odds go up.

When you open a program, such as word or IE, then hit the minimize button, then hit alt and tab at the same time, what happens? Does the program pop back up?
